Stolen Ride

In a boxcar along with sacks of grain

Two lost souls rode on through the night

Underneath them lay the steel and wheels

Taking them on a stolen ride

Brought together by the winds of fate

Oblivious as to what for

They stared at the moonlit landscape

Flashing through a half opened door

They talked about dreams they once had

And grandiose plans of tomorrow

They talked of loneliness, despair and regret

With a sadness that cut to the marrow

The younger one said. “My daddy left home before I was born, never got to know him.

My mama told me that he was no count and that he wouldn’t worth missing.”

The older man smiled, tipped his torn, worn hat and said. “Your mama was right, this dad of yours, he ain’t worth the bother.

Cause son, this dirty shell of a beat down man standing before you now, is your scoundrel of a father.”

Happenstance

Happenstance, some proclaim
The many instances of life that make up a day
"The sunrise? Well, it just rises because that is what the sun does."
Creation, existence, the cosmos, the forces of nature and all the other many facets of
the universe are just one big incidental coincidence.
Yet despite the scoffers Godless point of view, He still works.
He who never sleeps, though unseen, with tender mercy is actively involved
in His creation.
Happenstance/Coincidence?
No way
It is God
Do not be overwhelmed by circumstances my friend, but realize that there
is a loving force that has your best interest in mind.
Embrace this force and He who controls all is yours.

Freelance Writer

I have not posted lately to this blog, but just wanted to give an update on my freelance writing endeavors. No longer writing for Demand Studios, but started back with textbroker and have been posting on HubPages and Associated Content. I am also accepting freelance work from individuals. I am considering applying for other sites but there are only so many hours in a day. I am writing a book on HubPages called Zombie Dad, a story about a regular family with a zombie for a Dad. I have published three chapters so far, hoping to continue writing and maybe publish a paper version one day. Here I am half way around the globe, living in a different culture reading about a Jewish womam pouring perfume on Jewish man prior to His crucifixion 2000 years after the fact. Jesus spoke the truth, He is the truth, the way and the life. Know Him!

Why Don't We Drill for Our Own Oil

Maybe I am a little ignorant and unlearned, but I have a hard time understanding why we do not drill for own oil in Alaska and offshore as well. Why does some of those in power insist on keeping the United States dependent on foriegn oil? There is a mystery here and I am afraid of what the answer may be.

What is Your Goal in Life?

Oswald Chambers points out the most important goal to have in life, that is to live a life that is well pleasing to our creator. The only way we can do that is believing is His only begotten Son who died for our sins and arose from the grave so that we could have a right relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Live the Message

What leaps out at me from today's excerpt from "My Utmost for His Highest" is that believers should live the message of Christ. Believe it or not that is what I taught in bible study last night. Coincidence? No, I believe God is reminding me that if we are going to be a light in this world of darkness we have to life the life.
